College Store promotes the outdoor experience

pub1pub2Tracks, Scats and Signs and Short Bike Rides in Connecticut are available in the Communications Resource Center.

By Patsy Evans

Many people are anxious to get outside during the pleasant weather of late summer and early fall. More than 65 books and products in the recreation and hobbies section of the Communications Resource Center online store enhance the pursuit of mostly outdoor activities.

Many titles about biking, walking, hiking, paddling and fishing have a Connecticut or New England emphasis. For example, Short Bike Rides in Connecticut, 6th edition, ($11.95) lists 35 scenic routes scattered through Connecticut’s eight counties with levels of difficulty listed for each one. Other books promote the enjoyment of nature among children. Tracks, Scats and Signs ($7.95) helps the young reader know where to look for clues of animal activity. This Take-Along Guide discusses 17 common wildlife species that live in forests, fields and ponds.

The easy-to-use online store is open 24 hours a day and meets strict UConn security requirements. In addition, the College’s Office of Communications maintains a physical store in Room 2, WB Young Building on the Storrs campus, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Store customers may use the free parking space near the store entrance. Visit the web site for more information about both stores.

Get a book and get outside!
