UConn Extension GAP Produce Safety Programs

 

The University of Connecticut Cooperative Extension provides a variety of workshops, talks, and one-to-one sessions to help produce growers become aware of, understand, and know about produce safety and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).

What do we offer?

  • Introduction to GAP/GAP Lite

A three hour workshop discussing the basics of GAP for those interested in finding out more about it.

  • UConn Extension GAP School
    • 10 hour course

An intensive course focused on preparing farmers for a third party GAP audit and/or to learn what needs to be included in a food safety plan.

    • Plan Writing Workshop

A five hour hands-on workshop, with computers, to help farmers develop their plan.

    • Annual GAP Update

A three hour session updating farmers who have attended a GAP course on current thinking, updated methods, areas of concern noted in previous season’s GAP audits.

  • One on one farm visits

Scheduled on-farm visits to review food safety plans and help farmers learn how to prepare their operation for a GAP audit.
